Lining our nest with fairy wool

A lovely pregnant friend took me to an amazing toy shop, where I bought something called "fairy wool", and made some creatures from it. Unfortunately the cats think I've made the world's greatest toy for them. Little do they know who its really for...

Its getting bigger by the week!

Nesting

Since returning from our summer vacation, Timon and I have been in full nesting mode. This weekend we turned the Oklahoma dustbowl in front of the porch into a woodland garden.

Timon did all of the hard work, mainly transforming himself into a rototiller and making the soil a fertile bed. You might wonder why we are so busy nesting, and why Keely only did the pleasant planting work...

That belly may be from ice cream, but give a girl a break! She's eating for two now!

Historical Campwoods

We'll have pictures up from our trip to France soon, but in the meantime, here are some old photos of our kooky little community, circa 1875:

from this site.

"Camp Woods, which is now a residential neighborhood, was once the location of annual Methodist camp meetings. For two weeks each summer, thousands of people would gather on this site to hear thunderous sermons, sing hymns, pray and give personal testimony. Methodist camp meetings began early in the 19th century and continued well into the 20th."

a winter's stroll in the park

Last weekend Timon, his sister Keren, and I went to nearby Rockefeller State Park to stroll the grounds. It was a lovely, mostly sunny day, and the air smelled cool and crisp and we enjoyed ourselves.

Mittens! Rule!

Rockefeller State Park runs into Stone Barns Farms, and this is one reason why I love Westchester: where else can you go for a walk in the woods and end up at a gorgeous coffee shop? (sorry, no pics of Stone Barns, but you can see it here) Along our stroll we squealed at the piggies - ahem - HOGS.

Moonset

as we were flying home, there were clear skies over the rockies

skiing is so much fun and so dangerous that it might as well be illegal.

On our way to Outer Mongolia, where we would find new ways of understanding Deep Powder. (Sorry folks, no pics of me furiously shaking the snow out of my head after I face planted while laughing at Timon's triple somsersault with skies flying off move - his most famous trick I might add...)

Sundown Bowl

This picture is for Mika. See the little speck of moon up there, above the tree? We were on the chairlift marveling at how huge the moon looked and got into a discussion of illusions of the eye, that in fact, while the moon sometimes looks enormous when near the horizon, it is exactly the same size as when its high in the sky.

Hi Mika!

Every day after skiing, Mika, Timon and I would feel a desperate need to stuff ourselves with hot food and beer. YUM!

Life is good!
